Kitesurfing spots in Cyprus

Kitesurfing spots in Cyprus

A beach by Crest Watersports station, Limassol, Cyprus

A very good beach for kitesurfing: both teaching and riding. The wind is sideshore most of the time, the beach is sandy and shallow. Not too big but sufficient and comfortable. One more big advantage of the beach: it is located in the town of Limassol, Cyprus and getting there is quick and easy. The only problem with this beach is that it is quite popular with locals and teaching or riding during summer is not allowed. Otherwise, off-peak-season, the place to learn and ride kite.

Paramali beach

Probably the best place in Cyprus for teaching and one of the best for riding. A long, 2 kilometers, strip of sand, flat water or, at a maximum wind, small chop make this beach a great kite location. Since there are no hotels by the beach, the beach is never full with people. This combination of qualities make this place a choice amid the local kiters. May through October the wind is very regular, usually coming in the afternoon, sideshore and a little towards the coast line from the sea. However, no cafes in this area: take drinks and snacks with you.

Avdimu beach

Avdimu is a small and quite bay approximately 15-20 minutes by car from Limassol, Cyprus. One of the kitesurfing advantages of the beach is earlier wind arrival, 1-2 hours before the wind hits other beaches. The water is flat with a bit of chop in strong winds. Some places to have a drink or a sandwich. However, a rather extensive swimming zone limiting the space for kitesurfers.

Ladies’ Mile beach

Ladies’ Mile is something special for both windsurfers and kitesurfing in Cyprus. The wind, as a rule, westerly offshore in May-October period and mostly easterly at other times.

It is during the winter season that we recommend this beach to riders. Summertime the wind is mostly offshore and, as such, dangerous for beginnersin kitesurfing.
The beach is long, about 8 kilometers, all sandy and shallow. Three restaurants are the only buildings on the entire strip.

The true pearl of Cyprus is a salt lake right next to the ladies’ Mile beach. Ideally flat lake surface is very fit for kitelanding. A paradise for kitesurfing in Cyprus.

Kurium beach

One of the most popular kite spots in Cyprus. Equally respected by windsurfers who are into the wave riding. Windy and wavy: the waves can reach 4 meters high in strong winds. Certainly not for beginners in kitesurfing. Mostly gravel although some sandy spots. Commonly westerly cross-shore during may-October period.
