Being accessible only by a small group of enthusiasts back in the day, windsurfing has grown into a world known trend sport nowadays and has become a fun way to enjoy your time on the water.

With Crest being equipped with latest gear, easy step by step methodology and our qualified instructors, who are always there with advice and support, you can master that board and sail in very short time and with little effort. Even kids can do it with ease (although they do need to be at least 5 years old).  

Once you master the basics, you can always continue with our advanced courses or simply move on to your first free sailing sessions and truly enjoy the fascinating world of windsurfing.

Starter lesson. 

You want to see how it goes and what windsurfing is about? A starter lesson is the best choice for you if it’s your first time on the board. The lesson will take place on a light windy day when you can practice the basics.

What you can learn during the starter lesson

  • Your gear: what is a board and what is a sail.
  • How to safely carry your gear around the beach.  
  • The easiest way to pull your sail up. 
  • How to get your board moving and how to stop it.  

After you tried it on the beach, your lesson will continue on the water.

Beginners course

The best course for you if this is your first time on the board and you are willing to master the basics of the sport, is the beginner’s course. After this course, you should be able to practice on your own and enjoy the excitement of windsurfing!

What you can learn during your beginners course

  • Your gear: complete introduction to your board and sail. 
  • Wind direction and how to find your position according to the wind direction. 
  • How to prepare your gear and carry it around safely.
  • Easiest ways to pull up the sail. 
  • How to get your board moving and how to stop it. 
  • The safeties way to fall down from the board. 
  • How to carry your gear in to water.
  • The basics of a self rescue.

Intermediate course.

If you have already mastered the basic techniques of windsurfing then let’s take your riding to the next level! Course includes learning the techniques of a beach start, fast tack and simple non-planning jibe/gybe.
As part of the course, your instructor will give you a diagnosis of your current level and will adjust the course to your needs.

What you learn during the beach start lesson:

  • The purpose of the beach start. 
  • How to prepare your gear for the beach start.
  • What is a “flying rig”.
  • How to control the board during the beach start.
  • How to get up on the board.

What you learn during the fast tack lesson:

  • All advantages and disadvantages of the fast tack.

  • How to get to the other side of the sail.

Kiteboarding is the fastest growing watersport on the planet! It combines windsurfing, wakeboarding, surfing and paragliding all into one sport

Overview - Kiteboarding

A kiteboarder uses the power of the wind with a large controllable power kite to be propelled across the water on a kiteboard similar to a wakeboard or a small surfboard.Riders can do high jumps, various freestyle tricks, enjoy waves or just cruise around while freeriding.

The first kiteboarding attempts appeared in the mid 1990’s and kiteboarding evolved into an extreme sport in 1998 when the first competition took place in Maui, Hawaii. 

Kiteboarding will make its Olympic debut at the 2016 Games in Rio, Brazil!

Come to Crest and try this amazing new sport! 

You will receive quality coaching from highly experienced instructors with a maximum ratio of 2 students per one instructor using the latest Liquid Force kiteboarding equipment. Once the basics have been mastered, you will be able to have fun kiteboarding and practicing riding and jumping on your own.

Lessons take place on beautiful beaches around Limassol - Paramali, Avdimou, Lady’s Mile, Shipwrecks - depending on the best wind conditions.

 

Kiteboarding Lessons:

1.     Introduction course

This is the crucial course for those who are new to the sport. You will learn the fundamentals of kiteboarding and understand the safety rules. The course will take place on the beach and no experience is needed.

What you learn during your introductory course:

  • What is kite surfing (kiteboarding) about and what you need to start kiteboarding.
  • How to recognize the wind direction, your position according to the wind and what is the wind window - clock system (9-12-3).
  • Conditions, when kite surfing is considered dangerous.
  • The setup of a trainer kite.
  • Flying trainer kite.
  • How to control the kite within the clock system.
  • Setting up a regular kite and bar, manipulating with the kite on the beach.
  • Kite safety systems and "let go the bar" reflex.
  • Landing and launching the kite.

Your in instructor will show and explain the international gestures used on the water, answer your questions and pinpoint the most important parts of the lessons.

2.     Second level course

As soon as you have finished The Introductory Course on the beach, it’s time to move into the water. 3-4 Beaufort wind strength is required for this course. Introduction Course knowledge or the equivalent level is required.

What you learn during your second level course:

  • Review of theoretical knowledge from introductory course
  • Setting up a regular kite and bar
  • Kite safety systems and “let go the bar” reflex.
  • Flying the kite and controlling your kite with one hand.
  • Body dragging downwind in the water
  • Re-launching the kite from the water
  • How to rescue yourself.
  • Simulating water start on the beach

In the end of the lessons, your instructor will answer your questions; pinpoint the most important parts of the lessons.

3.     Third level course 

As soon as you successfully finish the second level course, you are ready for your next step. Hooray!! After this course you should be able to ride on the board and enjoy the beauty of the sport! The main goal of this course is to keep you on your board for longer periods of time. After you finish with the third level, you can start practicing on your own.

What you learn during your third level course:

  • Water start practicing in both directions
  • Board recover by body dragging
  • How to “pump” the kite to generate power.
  • Controlling the board using body positions and foot pressure.
  • First riding on the board downwind.
  • Rules of way.
  • Practicing staying upwind

In the end of the lessons, your instructor will answer your questions; pinpoint the most important parts of the lessons

Riding a Hobie Cat is a fast and easy way to get a glimpse of what real sailing is all about.

If you have never set foot on deck before, our instructors will be more than happy to provide you with all the essential techniques, rules and safety instructions. 

Once your training is complete, take your family and explore the island of Cyprus from a totally different perspective. Or bring your friends for a fun race to test your skills! 

Introductory lesson

If you want to know what it means to set sail, you can start with a single hour accompanied by one of our instructors. Lesson will take place on light wind day, so you can see how it works.

Through the lesson your instructor will get you familiar with the following:

  • Essential and vital parts of a Hobie Cat.
  • Basic wind theory
  • How to prepare you Hobie Cat and to set sail
  • How to steer your Hobie Cat and how to stop.
Learn sailing

This course will help you to become an independent Hobie user.  After successfully accomplishing this course you should be able to prepare your Hobie Cat and to set sail on your own.

Through the course your instructor will teach you on the following topics:

  • Essential and vital parts of Hobie Cat.
  • Basic wind theory.
  • How to prepare your Hobie Cat and to set sail.
  • How to steer and how to stop your Hobie Cat.
  • How to turn against the wind and with the wind.
  • How to go upwind and downwind.
  • How capsize your Hobie Cat.
  • Rules of way and safety on the water.

Stand up paddle

Stand Up Paddle surfing or SUP is a new emerging global sport with a Hawaiian heritage.

Overview - Stand up paddle

The history of the sport says that SUP evolved from surfing, when surfers started to use paddles to help them to cover long distances. Today SUP is an independent sporting activity with its own traditions, rules and disciplines.

The main advantage of a Stand up Paddle, that anyone can do it on almost any kind of a watercourse:  sea coasts, lakes, rivers and canals. Paddlers navigate river rapids and ride standing waves as well.
