Windsurfing - Wind
Wind mostly comes from west with shorts periods of easterly wind from time to time. According to the www.windfinder.com reports western wind that blows along the shore line of Limassol, Cyprus has nearly of 50% chance of reaching 12-13 knots. 10 knots is good enough for kite. As a rule, until 11 am the area is very quiet and water very flat which makes it perfect for wakeboard and waterski. After 11 am comes wind and blows through 6-7 pm nearly every day. That is how a usual day looks. Though, some days wind comes right in the morning.
Windsurfing - Water
Water in Limassol, Cyprus is not as salty as in Egypt, but equally warm. The good thing about Cyprus is absence of coral reefs and some dangerous aqua species that make swimming or windsurfing in Egypt sometimes an unpleasant experience. The Crest Watersports station is guarded from the western wind by the wall of the St. Raphael marina which allows a safe way through the waves by the beach. Nearby there is a second beach, free of general public, where we teach kitesurfing. We normally keep kite and windsurfers apart.
Windsurfing - Equipment
Crest Watersports is equipped with JP boards and Neil Pryde sails (Combat and Zen lines) of 2009 model range. It is probably the best possible for now what is available in the market for windsurfing.
Windsurfing – Lessons
We use proven and tested approach to teach windsurfing. Our instructors competed professionally and can help both beginners and intermediate windsurfers. We don’t hurry up and teach progressively, step-by-step.
We start by teaching on the beach using training equipment and then moving to water. One, maximum, two hours will put you on the windsurfing board with certain confidence.
We prefer individual lessons as the most productive way to get people onboard. We also do groups of 2-3 people.
